"The Noshing with Nina Show" in Vienna

As you may recall, in our last newsletter we announced that The Noshing with Nina Show would be spending the bulk of the month of August in Austria and Great Britain. Nina Kennedy in her role as concert pianist was invited to film a music video at the  Bösendorfer  Salon, which happens to be inside of the Musikverein building in the heart of Vienna. Vladimir Bulzan and Nina Kennedy Our gracious host, Vladimir Bulzan, was kind enough to sit down with us for a short interview on the history of Bösendorfer in Vienna, and to share some details on the beautiful Imperial Grand piano on which Nina performed. That instrument was the model owned and preferred by jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, and Vladimir discovered later that afternoon that the day we were filming happened to be Oscar Peterson's birthday. Konzertpianistin Nina Kennedy Kehrt Im August Nach Wien Zurück

Nina Kennedy Die in Nashville geborene Konzertpianistin Nina Kennedy kehrt im August nach Wien zurück, um ein Musikvideo ihrer Aufführung von Robert Schumann's "Widmung" im Bösendorfer Salon aufzunehmen. Die New York Times bezeichnete Kennedy als "eine gute Pianistin" und beschrieb ihr Spiel in der Rezension ihres New Yorker Debütkonzerts im Lincoln Center als "sinnlich und pikant". Sie ist eine Empfängerin des Stipendiums der Nationalen Stiftung für Solisten. Kennedy lebte einige Jahre in Wien, nachdem sie die Juilliard School abgeschlossen hatte. Sie wurde bei ihrem Wiener Debüt im Musikverein als Klaviersolistin der Chicago Sinfonietta in Aufführungen von Gershwin im Eröffnungskonzert des Jeunesse Musikalischen Festivals vorgestellt. Clara Schumann (née Wieck) on a 100 Euro note As some of you know, I am preparing for a Carnegie Hall concert in the near future; so recently my attentions have turned to other pianists who have enjoyed successful concert careers. While reading a biography of pianist/composer Clara Schumann*, I was filled with pangs of jealousy. Her father, Friedrich Wieck, was a shrewd businessman. He booked all of her concerts, negotiated her fees, and devoted himself to her publicity. Granted, little Clara didn't have much of a childhood; but neither did I. Her parents divorced when she was five, and her father demanded sole custody. Clara Wieck at age 15 Clara's father owned and ran a piano dealership, and was determined that his daughter would be known throughout Europe as a wunderkind, as young Mozart had been. But Friedrich Wieck did not have to worry about being discriminated against because of his race. He was free to build his daughter's career however he imagined it. ...
